The Senior Accountant is a key contributor, ensuring the monthly financial close and reporting process is done accurately and timely. Areas of focus include reviewing departmental expense accounts for potential classes and/or accruals, performing and/or reviewing balance sheet reconciliations, managing all fixed asset accounting, reconciling intercompany transactions, supporting all tax-related month-end accounting entries and related statutory reporting, and maintaining and administering the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system (e.g., Oracle NetSuite). Other responsibilities include supporting requests from auditors, vendors, customers, and various regulatory agencies as well as ad hoc requests from management.

Estimated starting annual base salary is $109,701.20 - $164,551.81 less applicable withholdings and deductions, paid on a bi-weekly basis. Please note that the actual compensation offered may vary based on relevant factors as determined by the Company, which may include, but is not limited to, location, experience, qualifications, education, skillset, and market conditions. The target base compensation for this role is in the low to middle of the range, with the top of the range reserved for only exceptional circumstances. In addition, this role is eligible for a discretionary, variable annual incentive, paid based on Company performance factors. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support month-end close cycle by preparing & distributing reports (e.g., profit & loss, balance sheet, trial balance, cost center spending, etc.) and posting journal entries created by other team members as needed.
  • Identify and track the status of all tasks required to complete the month-end reporting process timely, accurately, and in compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
  • Perform balance sheet reconciliations and prepare to adjust journal entries as required (example areas of responsibility include intercompany transactions, customer rebates, broker commissions, amortization of prepaid, bank reconciliation, and sales & use tax).
  • Research and recommend improvements to the efficiency and accuracy of the close process and related systems used to generate financials.
  • Manage the full life cycle of the fixed asset accounting process including purchase justification (capital project authorization [CPA] form), purchase order (PO) creation and subsequent construction in process (CIP) activity, placement into service, and asset retirement or other disposition.
  • Develop, recommend, and implement an effective set of fixed asset controls including periodic physical inventories of assets.
  • Analyze and prepare various tax-related (e.g., sales & use, property, income) month-end accounting entries as needed. Prepare and submit periodic reports, filings, and payments as required to maintain statutory compliance.
  • Collaborate with external auditors and assist with periodic corporate audits. Conduct and coordinate internal financial audits.
  • Provide backup support to Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), and Payroll as needed. For example, assist the AP team with completing and/or updating W-9 forms and vendor credit applications.
  • As part of a broad cross-functional ERP team, play an integral role in the learning, training, and implementation of the system (i.e. Oracle NetSuite).
  • Develop an understanding of all business processes and functions (including sales, order to cash, inventory control, AR, and AP) and the IT systems and applications supporting those functions and ERP system.
  • Maintain and support application user administration adds, changes, and deletes as needed in the ERP system, such as customers and vendors list, creating new accounts, opening and closing the accounting period in the ERP system, and troubleshooting errors happening as a result of posting batches in the ERP system.
  • Work closely with IT and Finance to help manage capital asset budgets and forecasts.

Required Qualifications

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field.
  • 8 years’ professional accounting experience.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities (KSAs):

  • Strong analytical, creativity, problem solving, time-management, and planning skills.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel expertise and solid Microsoft Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint skills.
  • Intermediate technical and/or system knowledge of ERP systems such as Oracle NetSuite or similar accounting software.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Must have the ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, with internal staff and management.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Must be able to demonstrate practical problem solving and trouble shooting skills. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in accounting or related field.
  • Experience in manufacturing environments.
  • Experience in Oracle NetSuite.
  • Nutraceutical, pharmaceutical, and/or consumer packaged goods industry experience.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or other related technical certification.
